10th Annual REF Golf Classic Raises Over $12,000 for Education

96 golfers lined up to take part in this year's REF Golf Classic, "On Par for Education".
The sunny weather brought golfers out in droves, including many newcomers. There were also quite a few veterans who've made the Golf Classic a yearly tradition. One golfer had attended all 10 Classics. Competition was spirited, with scratch golfers and duffers coming together to score points for education. Participants could buy an eagle to improve their score, use string to nudge their ball into the cup, or pay for Trilogy’s golf pro to drive their ball 300+ yards off the tee – all in the name of raising money for the Riverview School District.
Over a delicious lunch of barbecue chicken and ribs, golfers got to take a chance at raffles for Seahawks tickets, and a blue tooth headset and bid on several feature-rich cell phones.
The Best School Participation trophy went to Tolt this year. The First place prize, four Edgar Martinez autographed bats, went to the the team of David and Marilee Bosshart, Mike Khune and Paul Querro. Second Place of a round of golf at Trilogy went to Joe Barth, Bruce Connally, Doug Miller and Ben Zhang. Third Place went to Dana Witsil, John Thomas, John Waite and Neal Coy. Becky Nixon won the women's longest drive. Ryan Ingalls won the men's longest drive. Bill Deal won longest putt and Alan Feucht won closest to the pin. Tournament prizes were donated by Edgar Martinez, Nike Golf, and Dan Mahowald. Auction and raffle items were donated by Rob and Cathy Tiffany, Rob Booher, Tiger Mountain Winery, Automotive Specialties, Kathy Klein, Kevin Robkin, Dan Mahowald, Steve Allen, Rob Booher, Rob and Cathy Tiffany, and Jia Mei Restaurant.
All proceeds from this event will fund this year's REF grants to Riverview teachers and schools. If you would like to make a donation to help fund these grants, visit REFweb.org. The Riverview Education Foundation would like to thank its sponsors, donors, volunteers and golfers for coming together to make this year’s tournament a memorable event and a remarkable success.
