When the Riverview Education Foundation has a
vision, it’s go big or go home. And big they went with a record
breaking $40,000 raised for the foundation in 2012. The event’s
success is no doubt due, in part, to the overwhelming support of the
182 guests who attended the sold out “Evening for Education Dinner
Auction”.
Bear Creek Country Club was the setting for this elegant affair held
on February 25. As one of the signature events for REF, this night
continues to show incredible growth in both support and success each
year. Hosting the largest crowd ever brought some of the most
exciting and heated bidding yet to be seen. Paddles flew around the
room in hopes of a top bid on one of the many tantalizing selection
of trips, experiences and items. Over 150 unique individual and
business donors gave graciously in support of the Riverview
Education Foundation.”We are grateful for the many businesses and
individuals who so generously donated items and services to the
auction again this year”, said Sue Davenport. “It’s encouraging to
witness the widespread support from auction guests, donors and
volunteers to make this event a smashing success!”
The evening also provided an amazing array of silent auction items
that gave almost everyone a chance to contribute to the cause.
Generosity was evident everywhere as guests played the ring toss for
wine, cut the cards for a chance to win a trip to Victoria BC, posed
with friends in the photo booth, bid
on heavenly desserts or simply raised a paddle in support of the
Tolt bus and Senior Scholarships. As the night progressed it was
evident that REF’s vision, to
be an integral, district-wide resource to drive student success,
was shared by all. To date REF has raised nearly$420,000 in its 20
year history of improving student learning.
The Riverview Education Foundation (REF) is a non-profit, volunteer organization established to enhance the educational opportunities of Riverview School District students. It's for the kids!
